It's very rare for me to even play a cover, never mind to record one, and it's especially kind of strange that I decided to do that now when I'm feeling more inspired than ever to write. But honestly I've been going through it a bit recently and this song got stuck in my head. I guess it quite nicely reflects what I've been feeling, just maybe in a very hyperbolic way, so excuse me for being a bit extra. Anyway I've been wanting to play more keys and I just generally love this song anyway so it felt like a nice idea. I hope you like it, and I'll look forward to sharing some new original music in the not-too-distant future.

Falling, Harry Styles, by Dave Meyers

It is time, time to talk about Harry Styles’s music video. I simply cannot talk about Falling’s video, one of the greatest songs on his album Fine Line. The whole music video takes place in a single room, with Harry playing the piano in the middle of it. At the very first start, before he starts playing when the chorus begin, he seems to be backed on the piano with a glass of alcohol, like he is in a bar, devastated, as he’s said in the song. The more the song plays, the more water comes out of the piano, until the room is filled with water and Harry’s quite drowned in the middle of all of this. I find it quite poetic, the way that what is happening in this room relates directly to the lyrics. Drowning into water sometimes feels like drowning into your feelings, that’s how he explains it. Writing songs with his piano can help, but it can also hurt sometimes when the feelings are too strong.

This is a pretty simple music video, one room, one person, a small period of time, but what makes it interesting, in my opinion, is the parallel between the image and the music, everything is dramatic and suspended in time.
